Four Letter Domains

After doing some research on the prices of four letter domains I was shocked at the results. Finding that domains like “llll.com” were valued in the thousands on forums. At first I couldn’t imagine why people would want four l’s in a domain name. It sounds like OTC stock ticker more than it does a business. Then I realized that, like it or not, four letter domain names are in short supply. Meaning that their value will naturally be higher and continually grow with the internet’s popularity. As long as the internet continues to grow exponentially every year then I think the value is definitely affirmed.

Since the internet is massive and continues to grow rapidly since the introduction of blogs, social networking websites, and side server languages. It naturally creates a demand on targeted domain names. Though, value can be determined just by the demand that certain four letter domains create. Since the growth of nanotechnology that advocates increased storage that brings down hosting websites. It makes it more easier for a typical person to own his own website. As more cost effective websites can be hosted the additional demand is created for domain names. Of course, everyone wants to own there own four letter domain name. What’s even better is if that domain name has the capability to build a brand! Which is why I conclude that the domain market is safe until the popularization of different extensions. Since, .com extensions are the most valuable, major advertising campaigns to popularize different extensions will effect the market. Though, getting consumers to forget the beloved “.com” will never be an easy task it’s always better to be safe.
