Free Anti Spyware And How To Use It More Effectively.

One of the main problems that can be faced in trying to deal with spyware is programs that run in the background of your computer. It’s almost impossible to get rid of any program that is already running without first shutting it down. This is especially true of spyware, especially Trojans.

The best quality software has the ability to stop the programs first and then remove them. Well….actually, in truth, the best software will prevent infections from reaching your computer in the first place, but that’s another article. So how can you prevent programs from running so that you can remove them with free anti spyware?

First of all free anti spyware doesn’t have the ability to remove everything, but if you run two different anti spyware programs you stand a better chance. It’s actually one of the fallacies of security software that more is better; it isn’t. The more security software you run the slower your computer will get and it may even stop completely.

Running just a few programs is the most effective solution and not all at the same time. Run an internet security suite (or at least anti virus and a decent firewall) if you can and back it up with at least on decent anti spyware program. But if you can’t afford that or just refuse to pay then you’ll need to run several free programs to perform different tasks.

Meanwhile…..

To run your free anti spyware more effectively it’s a really good idea to start your computer in safe mode. Make sure you’ve updated your anti spyware software first then re start your computer. As windows boots up you can tap one of the F keys at the top of the keyboard. In the UK it’s F8 but I don’t know if it’s the same in all countries. You’ll need to find out which key to use for the particular version of windows common to you country.

A black screen will appear with a number of options, you need to select the one that says Safe Mode. When you start your computer in this way only the windows software is running, nothing else starts up. So then you can load up your anti spyware and run it more efficiently. I’ve removed many Trojans in this way that were causing problems when windows was running normally, in many cases with free anti spyware.

This is also an effective way to use anti virus or full blown security suites as the security software can check everything easily instead of being hampered by software that’s already running. Plus in many cases it can be quicker, especially in the case of free anti spyware, as the software has free reign over your hard drives and software programs.

This isn’t a guaranteed solution but it is a helpful way of running free anti spyware that could enhance and improve it’s performance and capabilities.
