Free Public Speaking Tips

I'm going to share with you some of my free public speaking tips. As a public speaker, you must always be aware that you are engaging a group of people in a structured and deliberate manner to inform, influence or entertain.

Care About The Topic: You could be doing any topic for a speech and it really isn't going to be that good if you don't care. They say around 90% of our communication is non-verbal. This means little things like your body language and your tonality are really painting a negative image. As a speaker, if you don't care, your audience will definitely not care. Sometimes it is hard to care about the topics, especially when you're starting out to learn because you just take topics for the sake of learning. At least try to pretend you care, so your audience will care to listen.

Be Modest About Yourself: It's very common to share a sentence about yourself, but don't go overboard. People don't want to sit and listen to someone talk about how great they are. Keeping this short, or even better, non-existent, you can go directly to the main portion of the speech.

Learn To Tell A Story: This is a great skill to develop both in public speaking and around people in general. It is a unique way of communicating your point, humor, yourself and really anything you want. People generally like to hear stories because they're such a relatable type of communication. You can really connect, show the real you, get your point across and persuade all in on little story.
