French property has been an attractive investment for many years now and France still remains on the list of favourite places to relocate and just like the UK, not all properties in France are owned by the French.

Whether you are buying French property as a second home, a property to live in or a farm house as a DIY project, there are many types of French properties on the market. France has them all from barns & gites to French manor style houses and the grand French chateaux.

If you weren’t sure whether you are making the right move in buying a French property, as moving down the road is upheaval enough, why not try renting a property in France in a ‘try before you buy’ and get a feel for the different areas before buying a property.

Whether you want ancient or modern French property, landscapes with plains or peaks, property in towns that are deserted or bustling, you also need to consider whether you would like to buy or rent a French property in a hot or cold climate. As you can see, there are many considerations you need to take into account before taking the plunge and this means doing lots of homework before buying a property in France.

There are also a number of other considerations when thinking about buying a property in France. It is not unlike buying a property in the UK but there are many financial considerations to take into account before you start to find the right French property for you and your family.

Do you speak French? If you do then obviously you have a head start and you will find it easier. If you have the time you might want to buy an audio kit teaching you how to speak French or you may want to go on a French speaking course. If you can find a French course or a personal tutor that teaches you how to deal with buying property in France then all the better.

There are many ways to find French property that you might want to buy. There are the estate agents, vendors and many online French property websites that help you to find the best property for your budget.

So, with this in mind it might be an idea to get a list together of things you will need to research before buying your dream property in France. Like all things, it’s all about the planning and now is a good time to start.
