Chamonix ski resort is located in France and is currently one of the largest and most varied mountain resorts in the Alps. Chamonix boasts an excellent nightlife complete with numerous bars and clubs to keep you entertained into the small hours and an extensive choice of cafes, restaurants and shops to enjoy.

Chamonix is just an hours drive from Geneva making it ideal for shorter ski holidays and weekends away. Although the resort is not the largest in Eurupe it is home to Europe's highest ski-able peak and with an altitude of close to 4000 metres snow can almost be guaranteed. Chamonix provides entertainment for various gropus of people whether families or couples, skiiers or non-skiiers.

Meribel ski resort is also located in France and although it is larger than Chamonix it retains the same quaint, traditional feel. The resort offers holiday makers plenty to keep them occupied during their stay with an abundance of bars, restaurants and shopping opportunities. Meribel is a pretty Savoyard ski resort with stunning views over the 3 huge valleys that have made it a popular destination for skiiers all over the world.

The skiing and snowboarding opportunities at Meribel are varied and there is something to accommodate all skill levels. Intermediate and more advanced skiiers will enjoy the steeper and faster skiing up at Val Thorens to the famous 76km circuit and beginners and those who are not so confident can enjoy less daunting slopes within the resort. After Morzine-Avoriaz, Meribel is the 2nd largest ski area in the world boasting 3 valleys offering well in excess of 640 kms of pisted runs.

Skiing weekends, although short will provide holiday-makers with a packed and varied programme with the resort and travel company ensuring quick travel time and convenient skiing to allow for as much activity as possible. A typical skiing weekend will include seminars and ski lessons with experienced instructors and more experienced skiers will enjoy the opportunity to explore the slopes on their own.

Alpine Elements suggest skiing weekends that start on a Sunday as you will benefit from both a reduced cost package due to the price of flights as well as a more friendly and easy going atmosphere. Avoiding the weekend crowds will mean the lift queues will be shorter and the snow will be in better shape. This also makes for an ideal time for beginners to practice their skills.
