From the earliest times a man was trying to find a way to bring him up to the skies and feel the flight. A human being invented numerous types of flying apparatus starting from the earliest one which was so primitive that an accident was inevitable. Men were dreaming to fly and created myths and legends about flying people who could give their lives to skies. Ancient Greeks, Chinese, Romans and skiffs created tons of legends about heroes who were the first pioneers of flying. The primitive first attempts to jump into the skies did always fail. Men made different wings imitating the birds but they ended with broken legs, arms and deaths.

The first man who could really find the way to fly for men was a person from the Renaissance epoch. It was a genius with prospective ideas and thoughts and his name was Leonardo da Vinci. Mainly he was famous at his times due to his genius pictures. However, he was a genius and prospective scientist as well. His drawings of flying machines could still impress their viewers because they were very much like a modern helicopter. Bearing in mind that the first helicopter was invented about five centuries later it could be difficult to understand how this genius Renaissance man managed to find the way of how to bring humans up to the skies.

The first air balloons appeared only in the eighteenth century but it required specific knowledge to maintain and could carry only a few people. Moreover, its principle of flying with hot air demanded too much gas supply which was very expensive, and air balloons could carry people so far.
