We're always looking to make savings in our day to day purchases regardless of what we want be it food, cars or consumer products. Regardless of how much you earn, savings are good. They leave that little extra in your wallet. So, where can we find deals and discounts? The easiest place to search is the internet. A huge number of sites have sprung up offering discount codes, voucher codes, promotional codes and general savings. Information displayed on these sites is usually provided by the product supplier. Equally, there are a number of sites that provide information gathered by users who spends hours per day trawling the internet for discount code information and deals on various websites. "Why do companies offer discount codes?" - there are many reasons. I've listed some below: 1. Stock clearance. In a bid to boost profits, manufacturers are constantly looking for the next big thing in order to boost both sales and profits. Old stock needs to be cleared in preparation for the launch of new products. 2. To entice the customer into the store. The logic here is simple; although many of us discount hunters are looking for something specific we're generally happy to buy something extra when we visit a store or site. Manufacturers and suppliers count on this hence terms such as 'loss leaders' - stock sold at a loss to encourage shoppers into the store. If you don't believe me, check out any store you visit and notice the way it's laid out - huge amounts of research have gone into 'directing' customers to where the suppliers want them to buy goods. 3. To encourage customer loyalty. A prime example of this is the rewards card. Stores and retail outlets give customers credits which can be redeemed for more goods. By collating all the data gathered on a customer the supplier can target specific areas of interest to an individual. This information then allows the store to provide advertising directly targeted to a shoppers individual tastes. Where can you find discount information? There are many sources. Word of mouth, newpapers, within a store, the internet...the list goes on and on. For most, the internet provides the fastest means of searching for dicount codes and deals. Search engines such as Yahoo, Google and Live Search provides web surfers with huge numbers of results based on the search criteria i.e discount lcd tv's. Equally, visting a store will yield results. Can you ever remember a time when you didn't see some 'great savings' or 'fantastic deals' when you walked into a shop? So, regardless of how you shop there are always deals and discounts to be found. Take a look next time you search the internet or walk into a shop, it's almost guaranteed that you'll find a saving on the goods you want to buy.
