That was done to demonstrate how strong the young man was. People would marvel at their strength.

As time went by the yellow pages book was improved in its format and the book began being sold. The once free yellow pages book was now sold to you if you wanted the yellow pages. The businesses also began to be charged for a place in the book. The higher the business paid the bigger the space they got to display their ad. The book started with the first letter of the alphabet and it continued from one merchant to another. However, when a merchant had paid for an ad it was inserted at that space in the book instead of just placing the name of the company it would show the ad. Now companies could influence how people saw their ads.

The computer has changed everything and with the Internet, our lives have been changed. We no longer need to carry a big thick book with us. We do not have to have a place for it. Now everything is at our fingertips with new technologies. The yellow pages are now online and with all the gadget we now have, one can connect to the internet and access the online yellow pages very easily. In fact, almost every site has a section to locate any phone number you want. One of the benefits of the online yellow pages is that when a business changes their number or even the address, changes can be made immediately. In the past, a company might have to wait almost a year before the change would appear.
