Fun Healthy Eating Activities For Children

It can be very hard to get your kids to practice healthy eating. All too often, when children hear that a food is healthy, they automatically assume that the food will not be good and they will get very stubborn about not even trying it. In fact, you may find yourself facing a daily battle to make sure your child is eating a healthy diet. Instead of fighting that war, you can try some activities that will be fun for your child and can get then started eating more healthy foods. Here are some healthy eating activities for children. Keep in mind that the more fun you make these activities, the more likely your child is to be willing to try them.

Look for foods that can be fun and entertaining for your child to eat and then play an imagination game. For example, raw vegetables could look like something else, and you can have your child create a whole story based on their imagination while they enjoy healthy foods. Are you a little lost? Try telling your child that broccoli heads are trees in a forest and then have them create a story about that forest while they eat.

Get your kids involved in the kitchen and let them actively help you cook. This option for healthy eating activities will actually allow you to spend quality bonding time with your child. Try picking out three or four healthy eating recipes and then allow your child to pick which one you will cook. Then, let them be your assistant while cooking the meal. Your child will be proud of their accomplishment and will be much more likely to eat the food you cooked together.

Let your kids have fun with your food. For example, you can allow them to grow their own wheat. All you will need are wheat kernels and this will allow your child to watch the healthy food grow. You can make it even more fun by planting the wheat in half a clean eggshell. Let your child decorate the shell with a face and they will soon have hair made of wheat sprouts. In addition you can create a broccoli forest for your child’s birthday party. This forest can be decorated for a princess theme or any other theme your imagination allows.

You can get your child into the habit of healthy eating without a daily battle. All you need to do is try healthy eating activities that will be fun for your child.
