When pilots think about which plane they would like to fly if they are planning to just have a weekend of seeing the countryside from above for a change, it is very likely that they would have in mind the lighter mono-engine aircrafts such as the Cessna 152 and its similar models. However, because these have very little gross weights, such planes certainly do not waste too much fuel when used for leisure flying. This definitely means that more can enjoy the leisure flight and not just the pilot. It is important to note though that this aircraft may require more fuel if it has to carry the maximum number of people or weight. Therefore, while it is a practical choice when there are more persons who wish to enjoy the trip, it can also be more expensive.

Nevertheless, the exhilarating feeling of being on top of the world and seeing the vast landscape from above can be something that is worth every dollar spent for the fuel. A lot of pilots even take their families with them on weekends and give them rides on the 180 just for the thrill of it. Aside from its capability to carry more people, another reason why the 180 is a good choice is that it is one of the safest light utility aircrafts ever built. Some of Cessna’s lighter models have had reputations regarding safety issues, although most of these are based on pilot errors, but not the 180.

The Cessna 180 can be attached with floats or a combination of wheeled landing gear and floats. This allows the plane to take off and land on water. For those who want to have a vacation on a lakeside resort or cabin, this should be a great way to travel there and back. The trip would be fast and easy, allowing them to have more time to enjoy on the lake instead of traveling on the road. The 180 has always been considered as plane meant for transporting and other utility work. However, it can obviously be used for leisure trips. The pleasure of flying is not just limited to pilots with the use of smaller planes. Everyone else can have it. As long as the plane is relatively bigger and safer, there is no reason for more people to have fun in the sky.
