The evolution of the t-shirt is now well known and its rise was rapid due the helping hand of the Navy which started the avalanche by the issue of a collarless, short sleeved 'T' shaped underwear for its sailors. When Hollywood stepped in, with its industry icons like Marlon Brando and James Dean sporting them, the popularity of these shirts shot up like skyscrapers and every one just had to wear them. They were considered cool! Technological advances in the dress material and in printing gave a fillip to the popularity of the t-shirt.

Funny t-shirts can poke fun at just about anything and anybody. They can be nonsensical, border on the ridiculous and even funnily offend.

Might leave a small hole in the pocket though.

Computers have made possible the creation of intricate patterns and fantastic and convoluted fonts. Combined with word play, the funny t-shirt has become a resourceful means of expression. Contrary to what the viewers of a funny t-shirt might think, the person who is wearing the particular t-shirt may be attempting to tell the world what THEY think. He or she may be using the apparel as a form of self propaganda. Parents may even be trying to say something indirectly through the t-shirt that their infants are adorned with. With the plethora of t-shirts available, it will not be a surprise if there is a funny t-shirt custom-made just for you.

Another possibility is that an offensively funny t-shirt might just be the intention of the wearer to communicate his or her displeasure against an individual or a concept; the degree of the offensiveness emphasizing the extent of his antagonism. In these days of double speak, care has to be taken on what one is sporting. Some simple phrase to one may be quite offensive to another. The best bet may be one with the words "I've Nothing To Say" on it.
