Funny Wedding Speech

First off, make certain to talk about the bride. She is the one that you are talking about the most in your speech. After all you just married her! You can go several tacks. You can discuss about how you first met and what persuaded you that she was the one. You can also go the track of talking about what you love about her and how special she is to you. If you get this part right you will have finished an essential part of your speech.

Try to be original. The speech should not be something that you copied of the internet. It is insulting to your bride and to your guests. Also there is the fact that sincere words from the heart will have more resonance than the best crafted speech. This is your moment to express all the emotions you are feeling in this moment and your happiness.

Try to remain to a sensible time. No one likes a longer than required speech. Dragging it out won’t make it better. And even if you had the voice of Morgan Free, James Earl Jones, and Barack Obama wrapped into one your speech would still be boring if it goes on for too long. Your job is to simply convey you message in a simple heartfelt way. So try to keep your speech down to 3 to 4 minutes.
Since you will likely have speeches from other members of the bridal party try to make sure that you are not repeating the same things. Check with other speakers to make sure that you are not using the same phrasing, jokes, or stories. Each speech is supposed to give a different point of view on your wedding day. So make it your priority to avoid redundancy.

Use notes cards and set of bullet points. Don’t try to remember your entire speech. Unless you are an actor the speech will be prone to sound stilted and mechanical. A note card with the highlights and key points of your speech will help to keep you on track and still give you the freedom to still be spontaneous.
Thank everyone that needs thanking. A lot of people will play a part in helping to make your wedding happen. Try to thank everyone who helped with the planning and organizing. These are the people who made your special day possible and they deserve a measure of your gratitude.

Use humor sparingly and with reason. Think of what jokes you are going to use ahead of time. Also don’t try to force humor or go for the extra laugh. Most times it will only lead to you bombing in a very embarrassing way. Use jokes that can fit in naturally with your speech’s subject matter. Also focus on delivery. Many a good joke has died an early death due to poor delivery. Try practicing your jokes on a few close friends and by yourself.
