It is also illegal to have the window mount for your GPS in some states, so always check your states laws to avoid an unnecessary ticket. A substitution for the window mount would be the car mount. You can also install the GPS into your dashboard in place of your radio. This tends to be more expensive than purchasing a simple GPS unit.

Remember that GPS units are relatively new and will be constantly updated and made superior to previous models. Always make sure you know what features are necessary and those that are luxuries when purchasing your GPS unit. This will save you the hassle of having to return it and buying a new one.
