Garage Storage May Help

If you had x-ray vision and were driving down any subdivision in America, you would see that beyond the tidy appearance of the garage doors lay unkempt piles of boxes pushed against the wall, holiday decorations, forgotten childrens toys, clothes, extra cabinetry, shovels, rakes, half-empty paint cans, and unwanted furniture. Perhaps every now and then a homeowner or two actually has enough room to squeeze in a car into the garage storage space they are using to keep an unorganized mess.

For many homeowners, that is what their garage has become - garage storage. We are all guilty of stuffing a closet too full. Soon enough, the closet is no longer sufficient and garage storage comes next. Maybe it begins innocently enough.

Pretend you are having the in-laws over to stay the weekend. You may want to clear out the clutter in the spare bedroom. Garage storage seems like the most sensible place to hide away any boxes or toys until the in-laws leave. However, the chances of taking the boxes out of the garage and putting them back in the spare bedroom are slim. Now, the garage seems like a good place to put all the small things that keep cluttering up your house. Before you know it, the place that once kept your car out of the rain and cold is now home to a lifetime of collections and furniture.

But what about your car? Do you park it on the street or in the driveway? And what about the next ice or hail storm that comes along. Aside from the inconvenience and pain of removing ice from the windshield as your knuckles begin to freeze, hail storms can do a good amount of damage to your property and vehicles.

Allowing your garage to become the place to keep all your treasures is convenient but it is not without regret because we all enjoy keeping our cars out of the unforgiving summer heat or frigid winter air. Is there a better solution that would allow you to keep all the items you just do not have room for inside your house and yet still park your car in the garage?

Yes! The answer is an offsite store room. There, you can neatly organize all the things you have stuffed into closets and piled in the garage. You can give yourself the opportunity to rediscover just exactly what you really have in the back of the garage. This will also give you the chance to throw out the junk that you do not really need and then put the rest into an offsite room for storing.

Once you have cleaned out the garage and no longer use it for just garage storage, you can park your car or truck in it. Imagine, once again, you enjoy the luxury of keeping your car safely stored indoors. In fact, now that you are able to provide such a safe and secure environment for your car, you may be in the mood to buy a new car. And, if you are not ready to part with the old one yet, park it in your store room.

Now, as you drive home after a long days work, you do not have to face a mountain of clutter taking up your precious garage space. And all the neighbors will envy the luxury you have of parking inside your garage.
