The gas credit cards will allow you to get a certain amount of cash back on whatever you spend on gas. For instance, if you buy $100 worth of gas and you get 3% cash back, you get $3 back. Even if that doesn't seem like much to start, it can increase quickly when you use your card to purchase a lot of gas. If that's not enough, most gas cards give cash back for other purchases too which is usually a smaller percentage.
Remember you are using a credit card. Don't use it irresponsibly. Even if you can get hundreds of dollars in cash back, it doesn't make much of a difference if you are being charged a ton of interest. You'll still end up owing more than you get back. Make sure you always pay off your balance each and every month if you really want to take advantage of the benefits of the card.
