The winter is nearly over now and what a cold one it has been. Many people have struggled over the past few months due to the rising prices set by the energy companies, so much in fact that a percentage of the general public, mainly the elderly would have had to have made the fatal decision of either eating or heating their home.

The recession has settled into most of our lives now and although it is extremely tough, people are getting used to saving money and cutting back on their expenses. Getting used to the cutbacks has in turn, made the decision as to 'eat or keep your home warm' a lot easier to handle now. The elderly have been hit the worst as they tend to be very stubborn when it comes to paying high prices. They would rather sit in the cold and shrug off any chances of paying the high prices that the energy companies are charging.

Savings now made on the reduced amount now spent on keeping warm can now be focussed on the more essential areas such as food or savings. With the economy becoming even more unpredictable, it is highly recommended to save as much money as possible whenever you can. Even though the utilities outgoings are now a lot lower than when they were in the winter, savings can still be made if you compare what is on the market. Often, companies will offer you lower prices than their existing customers to capture the custom for the future.
