Generating Traffic Using Video Marketing – Making Your Video Searchable
For any specific keyword phrase that you enter in the YouTube search bar, you will come up with hundreds of videos pertaining to that subject. Getting your videos on the top of this search can give you a huge advantage over your competition as your video is going to get more exposure, in turn giving your site or business more exposure (as long you remembered your link. Don’t forget!).
But, it can be overwhelming to imagine yourself among these people that are consistently ranking high for your keyword. You may be thinking, how do they do it? Honestly, you don’t need to know how they do it, you just need to tap into their success following a few simple steps that will give your videos a better chance of ranking high in the search term your are focusing on.
Focus On A Keyword
Just as you need to do with article marketing you need to focus your video around a specific keyword or keyword phrase. It’s not so much the content of the video that matters in this case; it’s the video title and description. These two things are what make your video searchable.
Say you want to focus on the term “make money”. You would want to write a title with the term make money as well as a description that contains make money multiple times. You also want to use make money as one of your tags. It’s also a good idea to add the name of your business in your title, description, and tags as a second keyword phrase.
Title Example: Make Money Online – Company X – Make Thousands
This title includes the keywords make money, your company name, and a something that is going to catch people’s eye. You don’t need to lie, be truthful but creative to catch people’s attention. Remember, doing these things correctly will not only get you ranked well with YouTube, but also major search engines like Google and Yahoo.
Do Your Research
If you’re looking to make your video searchable under the term make money, do a YouTube relevancy search for make money. Simply look at the videos that are ranked high and see what they are doing in their titles and descriptions that is ranking them so high.
Don’t be afraid to copy some of their techniques with your own information. If it works for them it can work for you too. And if you can get ranked high in a relevancy search, you’re going to get more plays. As you get more plays you will be ranked higher in the view count search as well.
Be Honest, Nobody Likes A Cheater
There are many ways that you can get ranked high on YouTube’s search that aren’t completely honest. I can’t say that they are against rules or that I haven’t tried a few of these techniques, but I personally like to get my results the legit way. There are shortcuts and tricks that are ultimately going to get your more views, more hits, and higher sales, but it doesn’t feel quite as good knowing that you had to get around the system to do it.
Some people use techniques such as using software to increase their view count. They also create nonsense titles that are meant to attract people to their video even thought it is not relevant to their content. And since the thumbnail of your video is selected from a frame of your video, many members will add a picture of an attractive woman in the middle so that is the thumbnail people see in the search results. Sometimes it can be tough to compete against people that don’t play it straight but you don’t need to stoop to their level.
There are many ways to bring traffic to your videos and ranking in the YouTube results is only one of them. Posting your videos elsewhere with your embed code and link, ranking with major search engines, and showing up in related videos which are next to every members videos are great examples of how to get more views to your videos.
So don’t just sit back and think that posting your video on YouTube is enough. You need to make lots of videos, make sure they get ranked and post them anywhere you can. Video marketing is an excellent way to build traffic to your site and can be very lucrative, especially because it is completely free.
