Generic heartworm medication is a way to save a substantial amount of money. By purchasing cheaper brands we can still safely treat our pets. The difference is that we can do it for a much lower price. Generics never mean lower quality. It is just that they are the active ingredient that can be purchased in more expensive products but they have not had to pay for all the previous testing to ensure the product is safe, it has already been done.

A generic is simply a no frills version of more popular pet supplies. We will not be paying for fancy packaging just the basic medication that we need. There are a number of heartworm medicines available each performing a few other functions as well as treating against the heartworm. This is when our pets face the real problem. Use a generic to prevent this from happening and it will have exactly the same effect as a more expensive brand. You can buy a generic for about twenty dollars for a six month supply for a large Dog which means we are making considerable savings over more well known brands.
