All of us will grow old in due time. Every year, many people who suffer different sickness due to old age and with the yearly increase it is proportional to the increase of nurses who are really in need in taking good care of elderly.


Providing medical attention to aged people requires a lot of training and skills. There is a field of specialization in taking good care of the old person. The specialization is what we called geriatric nurses, which play a vital role in providing proper attention to elderly.

To those newly graduate nurses, they need to acquire skills through training and seminars. They need to study and decide into which kind of nurse they will be working. But if you want to make a difference and save those elderly who really need medical attention being geriatric nurse is what you need to be.
Geriatric nurse must undergo different training and must acquire the skills in taking good care elderly people. Nurses who are planning to be geriatric nurses must have enough patience in dealing with the old people.

Elderly people do have different needs; they are unable to do most of the daily task for themselves. It will be a big risk for them doing these tasks, that if they fail to do so it will give a big risk on their health, which is why they need someone who will help them out in doing these tasks.

Geriatric nurses must provide attention and care to the elderly. Added with compassion and understand the situation of the elderly. These characteristics are very important in providing proper care for elderly.
