The managing director of the German Wine Institute said that 2009 would be a great opportunity for wine enthusiasts because “The 2009 wines of all our wine regions offer superb quality, or value, for money.” This increased pleasure to price ratio will certainly draw in big sales numbers for German winemakers and will likely be well appreciated by wine lovers.

While Riesling and Pinot are the most common wines in the German vintage, the director of the GWI feels confident that critics and wine enthusiasts will be surprised by the quality of the red wines in the 2009 vintage. Regardless of which wines end up with the best tasting reviews, there is no denying that the 2009 German vintage is going to be a big seller. Rarely does a year come up that affords the region the chance to make such consistently excellent wine, and enthusiasts will certainly want to get their hands on the best vintage the region has seen in years.
