Get In Shape For Hunting

I don't know if you've ever been out of shape and tried to go hunting in the Rocky Mountains but let me tell you from personal experience it's not fun and super difficult. When I was about 24 years old I was working 12 hour shifts at a company standing on my feet all day. That was not only painful on my feet but really bad for my health and well being. While I was working at this place I gained around 10-15 pounds of fat and the sad thing was I didn't even notice it. It took one of my friends to tell me I was fat before I was able to notice how much fat I had put on.

Well when autumn rolled around and hunting season came I was still out of shape but went hunting anyway because hunting is a way of life for me and I literally count the days until I can go big game hunting. However when I tried to hike the same hills that I had been hunting for the last 10 years I was unable to reach my destination due to the fat belly I had given myself. Now I could easily blame it on the company I was working for and say it was their fault for the 12 hours shifts and standing all day. It wasn't their fault, it was mine I should've been watching what I eat and exercising as much as possible.

Needless to say the hunt didn't turn as good as it usually does because I was unable to reach my honey hole where I know there are always animals there and I'm almost guaranteed to harvest a buck.

I know the hunts are here now so this article might be a little late but keep this mind next year during the summer months as the hunts are approaching.

Being in shape or out of shape can and will determine your success or lack of success.

Be safe and good hunting.
