If you are feeling run down and lacking in energy then, this may have a lot to do with the lifestyle you lead. Today's lifestyle for many people is sedentary. This means there is very little exercise and a lot of sitting down. This is also compounded by the fact that many people are eating too much and eating too much of the wrong types of food and drink. This lifestyle will make you feel tired and low in energy and over time can lead to serious health complications. However, you can make a drastic change to your health, energy and vitality levels by making a few simple changes to your lifestyle

Here are 6 ways you can start to get your energy levels back on track:

1) Cut Out Fatty Meat

Red meat is high in saturated fat and too much of it can lead to heart disease. Try to reduce the amount of red meat you eat and replace it with lower fat and leaner meats such as chicken. Eat more fish especially oily fish such as mackerel, herrings and pilchards. These types of fish contain essential fatty acids omega 6 which are good for your health and joints.

2) Eating Your Greens

Are you eating enough greens? You should be eating fresh vegetables and fruit every day. Try and buy organic if possible. Try and change the variety every day as well. Try not to overcook and eat raw if you can such as salads.

3) Cut Out The Salt

Do you put salt on your food? Although salt is very important for our bodies too much of it can damage our health and lead to a host of health complications. If you do use salt use salt products that have less sodium in them such as sea or rock salt.

4) Drink Less Alcohol

Alcohol is fine when it is taken in moderation. In moderation, alcohol can benefit you. Limit your intake of alcohol to half a pint of beer or one small glass of wine per day. In general you should limit your weekly intake to 2 to 3 pints of beers or 3 to 4 glasses of wine. It is also better to spread your drinking over a number of days. Binge drinking were you consume a lot of alcohol in one sitting is bad for your health.

5) Quit Smoking

If you smoke you are doing serious damage to your health no matter how little you smoke. Not only does it damage your lungs and cardiovascular health it will over time cause cancer. Smoking can take years off your life and the sooner you quit the longer you will live.

6) Reduce Your Intake of Caffeine

Many people are addicted to caffeine and cannot get through the day without having plenty of it. An addiction to caffeine can lead to tiredness, anxiety and depression. If you are addicted to caffeine you need to wean yourself of it. Do it gradually over 2 weeks. Caffeine can be found in coffee, tea, cola drinks, high energy drinks and chocolate.
