First, make a list of your hobbies, interests and knowledge about your niches. Practice by writing sample articles from those topics on your list. Research the net and find websites that share your those interests on your list. Send them a sample article. You will find someone who needs articles and if you do a good job that person may hire you. This would give you a continuing client and you're off on your writing career.

Continue this strategy until you have reached a point that you are comfortable with for the time you have to fulfill your writing commitments to these clients. Many people only want to supplement their current income, and others are unemployed and have unlimited time to write many articles.
