Getting Around Bourgas
This industrial and cultural center is bordered by the Bourgas Lakes. The city itself is at the western tip of the Black Sea. Its port is the largest and most prominent in Bulgaria. The airport in the city serves as a convenient point of origin to various destinations in the southern coastal regions of the country. The development of the city began early in the 20th century. This time, the city has transformed into an industrial center with several tourist destinations. Being surrounded by bodies of water makes this city one of a kind. Another treat for tourists is the temperate climate. Vaya (Bourgas Lake), Atanaskovsko, and Mandrensko are the three lakes surrounding the city. Bourgas actually did not focus on tourism. However, it is inevitable that people visit the place for its old towns and luxury holiday getaways. Nesebar and Sozopol are two remarkable century-old towns in the city that attract visitors. Hikers may also be delighted to know that there are established camp sites. MorskaGradina or Sea Garden is a huge park in the city that not only displays a range of green species but also gives a captivating view of the Bourgas Bay. Any tourist should visit this site. At the sea garden, Mosta offers a great place for walking. It is a t-shaped pier where local kids practice diving. Bourgas is open to people of all nationalities and religion. There are a few worth-visiting churches there, too, like the St Kiril and Metodii and the Armenian Church. Moving around the city is not a problem because transport system is well developed. For instance, available buses provide efficient transport for the public. Locals and tourists can travel on bus to all resorts within and outside Bourgas. Public transport system is available between 5 o’clock in the morning and 11 o’clock in the evening. Buses and trolleys are available, and special collectors are the ones selling tickets to passengers. Aside from regular buses, there are small buses (mini-buses) that run around, covering a few routes within the metropolis. Those from the airport may take the shuttle service. The Burgas Airport Resort Shuttle Service offers mini-buses that can take travelers to Sunny Beach and Vilas on a drop-off and pick-up basis. However, advance booking is necessary. Another way to get around from the airport is by riding on taxis. Bourgas airport taxi services offer an easy way to get around, especially considering tourists are unaware of directions. Several authorized operating companies provide transport to tourists. It is best to have a taxi ordered in advance before coming to Bourgas. This way, you can avail of fixed transport service charges. Also, reserved taxis may wait for you even if you arrive late. Beware of scammers that may charge you higher than usual, and pay close attention to the tax counter machine.
