Getting Google To Notice You

Upgrading your search engine rankings in Google is not easy. That behemoth of a website is processing so much information day in and day out, and there are so many companies clamoring for a higher page search result that you have to do whatever you can to get your content at the top. So how do you stand out from the rest? The first thing you can do is make sure that your website is not only user-friendly, but Google-friendly, as well.

Keep a Clear Path

When the Google Bot sees your website for the first time, it wants to assess what it is all about, and bring that information back to the search engine so you’ll come up when people need the information you have. That means when the Google Bot looks over your site, it needs a clear idea of what you provide. Things like broken links and other parts of your website that work improperly will inconvenience the Google Bot and potentially cause it to look over your website. Since Google is a META crawler search engine, make sure all META tags are properly put together.

Use Robot.txt Files

Robot.txt files help guide the Google Bot through your website. Using a robot.txt file helps speed the Google Bot’s indexing process up by telling the Bot what information it can overlook in the website to let it run faster and more efficiently. Make the Site Map Google-Friendly

If the Google Bot reaches your website and notices it as a familiar site that is easy to index, it will do a better job of keeping track of you. GSiteCrawler is a program that will help you in determining how Google-friendly your site is. It will notify if you if pages have been indexed incorrectly, you’ll learn how Google views your site so you can change it accordingly, and the program will notify Google when something on your site has changed.

Use Keywords

By using keywords in headlines as well as in content without mucking up your writing, you can help the Google Bot understand what your website is and what it is trying to do. Making sure these keywords are in headlines will help the Google Bot assess your website easily without having to go through pages and pages of text. But remember you’re not just trying to appeal to the Google Bot. While making healthy use of keywords, also keep the content well-written and engaging for a visiting human.

Cut Back on Flash

Using too much flash technology in your website will slow down your Google Bot’s indexing process, so try and keep it to a minimum.

With these tips in mind, you can start a solid basis for an appealing website to the Google Bot. And with proper maintenance and superior content, your search engine rankings will go even higher.
