Getting Paid To Write Online

Getting paid to write can be a good way of making money on the net. There are many sites offering online earning opportunities that, as a writer, you can take advantage of. Or you can start your own site with your own articles.

While there are some similarities, getting paid to write online is very different from what you might be used to in the offline world. The following is a short introduction of what to expect if you want to get paid to write in the online world.

Who Is Qualified To Write For Money?

It will definitely help if you have a writing background and have published before. But you can do this even if you have no prior writing experience. However, you do need to be able to write good English, with a minimum of grammatical and spelling errors.

On What Topics Do I Write?

If somebody is contracting you to write, then obviously you write what they tell you to write. But if you are writing your own articles or posts, it is pretty much anything under the sun. But you will be constrained by your payment model. For example, if you are writing for AdSense revenue, then you will write about topics that have a high value per click.

How Do I Get Paid?

Writers are used to being paid by the article, or by the column. When you write online, other than simply being paid based on your output, there are other ways through which you can be compensated:

By The Article Or Post. Some sites may pay you per blog post, perhaps a dollar or two per post. Some sites may pay you per article, or allow you to list your article for sale.

By The Number Of Words. There are occasions in which you are asked to write an article and offered a fixed amount per word. As expected, the rate varies widely, but one or two cents per word would be typical for a start.

By CPM. You publish on the site. The site will then pay you by the number of times the article is viewed. You can expect to be paid about $1 - $2 per one thousand views of your article.

By AdSense And Other Third Party Ads. The site will publish your article. Together with the page on which your article is displayed, the site will display other ads. These ads may be pay-per-click ads like Google AdSense or Kontera, or ads from sites like eBay and Amazon, or a combination. A portion of these ads will be display with your affiliate code, which essentially, is the payment for your article.

Conclusion

The Internet is changing everyday and the paid to write industry will probably change along with it. It is a comparatively new industry, with a lot of the demand coming from the SEO sector. In the future, as the search engines develop new algorithms, demand for articles for SEO purposes will likely change.
