Most of the websites like Google, Yahoo or MSN offer big storage spaces if you have an email address with them. If you already have an email account it is a good idea to set up a different account that you use only for your data entry job. Since this is a work at home position, it is a good idea not to mix your business emails with your personal ones. So if you have all these there is practically no investment you have to make except for the one time fee for joining the program. This fee is most likely refundable during a period of 30 days or sometimes even more.


Apart from the spare time, which if you think about it you can find it no matter how busy you are, you will need patience and discipline. These are also free so your initial investment is still low or close to none. Patience and discipline are two qualities you need to have even if you work at home or you work in an office or somewhere else. A discipline in a work at home position is important because working at home might be a little risky. The risk lies in the fact that while working at home you might be tempted to take longer breaks, postpone starting working and thus working less hours than you would normally work. Even if you work at home in the data entry business you still have to work a few hours a day if you want to have a good income. To be able to be successful in the data entry field or similar work at home jobs you will need to invest in a printer if you don’t already have one. Also you will be required to have a word processor with spell check. To advertise yourself think about printing some business cards which you can distribute around. How much you earn and how quickly you excel in the data entry business it depends solely on you.
