Getting To Know Binaural Beats
By now, you have come to know the many states of consciousness which are associated with different brainwave frequencies. What you may not be aware of, however, is that through modulation of the brainwave activity, you can induce changed states of consciousness all by yourself. And the only tool that you will need to get this done is just a pair of headphones. Back in the nineteenth century, a brilliant physicist named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove found out that two sounds with a slightly different pitch that are being continuously and separately played to the left and right ear will result to the production of beats. Dove called them binaural beats. For you to understand further how the beats work, consider the following example: Imagine putting on your earphones - through your right speaker you play a beat with a frequency of 10hertz, and through your left speaker you play a beat with a frequency of 15hertz. The frequency of a sound is actually another term for the pitch. So with the right speaker slightly higher in pitch compared to the left speaker, you will not hear two different tones, but rather hear one pulsing tone that fall between 10hertz and 15hertz. The 5hertz pulse is then called the binaural tone. So, how effective are these brain entertainment audios? Listening to these tones will result to your brain activity's frequency synchronization along with the sounds. For instance, when you listen to tones with a 5hertz frequency difference, your brainwaves are likely to fall around 5hertz as well. This would suggest a theta state where the brainwaves fall from four to seven hertz. This state greatly includes a deep trance wherein dreamlike visuals are likely to happen. Thus, binaural beats provide a very good way to induce altered states of consciousness through brainwave activity modulation. They are likewise effective for intensifying meditation practices. While you may be doubtful with the significance of these beats, perhaps the best way to make your own judgment about it is to try them out for yourself. Download some beats in the form of mp3 files and try to find out the many results you may get from listening to them. To make your very own binaural sounds, you will need a synthesizer software or something similar to that to create two continuous tones. Just record one tone through the left panning and another through the right. You need to make sure that the tones are of varied frequencies, with the second tone deeper or higher than the first one. Also, it is important to have a difference that is less than 30hertz, with not one sound having above 1000hertz. Listen to these tones, at the same time using your headphones, and you are well on your way to becoming a more relaxed and positive person.
