Gianni Truvianni’s “twilight Of The Gods”

In Wagner’s opera “Gotterdammerung” (Twilight Of The Gods) all the gods who inhabit Valhalla are consumed in a large fire which not only brings about their end but a new start for all of humanity. It being at that point that humans are left in a blissful peace to go about their lives in freedom which does not include so called “superior beings” constantly in need of being worshiped or dreaded. The concept of Gotterdammerung however was taken by Wagner from Nordic Mythology in which the end of the gods comes via one final battle in which their gods led by Odin battle the giants in what would be a struggle which would eliminate both and thus bring about an end to all but humanity which for better or worse was left to fend for itself with nobody to answer to but its own kind. It perhaps being this concept which can be interpreted in many ways yet I perceive it as being one in which there will come a day in which humanity will bring about the end of all gods weather they be real or otherwise. It being humanity who in their confidence and believe in their own capabilities will no longer find themselves indebted to deities in the form that will include having to build temples on to them or live according to their rules which require both obedience of their will as well as fear. It being then that all these will come to pass for a new faith that will not arrive in the form of a religion but in that of a science which advances mankind in its possibilities will take the place of all that was.

Mankind as was the case before when it left behind religions such as the Roman, Greek, Nordic, Egyptian and many others which worshiped many gods, will do likewise some day with those that worship one god yet unlike those faiths of old which today are considered myth because they were proven untrue; Christianity will be abandoned not because prove will be found to deny it. This being a scenario which will simply witness mankind no longer requiring to vow down to so called “forces greater” than himself but his own ideals and the potential of his abilities. It being this in my opinion which will truly be more devastating on to the deities now worshiped than the rage of any fire or battle to end all wars, for there will no longer be a need for humanity to live in fearful obedience on any unseen forces.

I am naturally aware that many will claim that mankind has need of God yet it is there where I can declare my believe that in fact it is he (if he at all does exist) who has greater need of us, for though he (and his angels) would survive without us as he has since the beginning of time; there would be no reason for his existence since gone would be those who in their trepidation worship him. Thus allowing himself to feel as the superior being he wishes all humanity to see him as though I ask does greater power and eternal life truly signify his being above us in any way other than the already mention. Yes, it can be stated that God could survive without humanity yet would he hold a purpose other than to merely be in the shape of the tree which has died yet still stands but in a lifeless form? This perhaps is the question humanity should ask itself concerning its gods and the purpose for their supposedly having created those who in their eyes are so far beneath them as to make it a constant reminder to them that they are not worthy of them though they were created in their own image.
