Give Power To Your Copywriting
If you want your message to be really powerful you can use other tools to get your message across: - Subheadings - Captions - Call outs Sub headings Don't you just hate it when you open a book and are faces with a solid page of text? Well, you're not alone - your readers do too. When they visit your website, if they see a screen of text they aren't going to read it. Same goes for brochures and any other marketing material you can think of. The use of sub headings is like erecting sign posts to help your reader find the information they want. Plus they break up the text into managable chunks adding those all important white spaces to your pages. Captions This is just a brief line of text that goes under your images, graphs and diagrams. It should have 2 purposes: 1. Identify what the illustration is 2. Link the illustration to your copy With regards to point 2, if you have included a photo of someone using your product, explain to the reader what is happening. If it's a chart, again explain what it means i.e. 85% of people asked expressed a preference to Miracle Clean compared to the leading brand. Callouts If you want information to stand out, use a callout. This is ideal when you don't want to break the flow of your writing or if the information is so important you want to draw special attention to it. You can use: - Bursts - Callouts - Sidebars What's the difference? Well a burst is normally a colourful graphic that attracts your readers' attention to a particular point such as a special offer or to emphasize a special feature. A callout is often a small section of text, in a different font or colour. It's a bit like a stage whisper - not as in your face as a burst and often used for highlighting information, features etc. The sidebar is a column or box of copy which is set to the side of the main text area. This normally houses a longer section of text - a list of features, a case study or other information that couldn't be shown in the main text area. So, as you can see, a copywriter has several tricks at their disposal to create interest and hype around a product. Using these 3 elements can compliment your text to produce something that is powerful and compelling without being overly wordy.
