Gluten Intolerance - A Customer Question Answered
A couple of days ago we had a customer question and I thought this would be a great chance to give you some valuable info for no cost. Here's the question. "One problem with Celiacs is that they are not absorbing the nutrients they need. My question would be: What types of supplements should we be taking?" - Anonomys Our industry expert in this area is Dr. John Peragine, MS PhD. We asked him this question during an interview and here is part of his response: "Now, there's some vitamins that are what they refer to as water-soluble which means that it can be broken down in water. But then there is others that are fat soluble. Now, fat soluble vitamins are harder for people to have that have Celiac Disease. Specifically vitamins A. vitamin D and vitamin K. So if a person is diagnosed with Celiac Disease those are the specific vitamins that I would recommend the person to take at least a daily supplement of them. if they are going to take more of these types of vitamins they of course need to consult with their medical professional about this because you know even vitamins could be toxic at higher levels." "When picking those sorts of vitamins one of the things that I always recommend is that they read the labels to make sure that there's no gluten products inside of it. There's many different supplements on the market that are gluten free or at least they will say it's wheat free. Celiac Disease is becoming much more known and as a result manufacturers are putting gluten-free on their labels more and more often."
