Goal Setting When It Isn't New Years

Another year is passing by and here you on the downhill slide to the beginning of a new one. But instead of letting this time slip away and mean nothing, achieve something by setting yourself some new goals.

The truth is, it doesn't need to be New Year to go about setting goals. Many people use the beginning of a new year to do this job as it is seen as a fresh beginning, or time to turn over a new leaf. But with only 100 days to the end of the year, NOW is also the right time to set yourself some goals for the rest of the year.

Now is the time to assess your life and set goals for the rest of the year. They maybe the exact same goals as the beginning of the year. Did you make some of these goals?

1. Lose weight, get fit, and exercise more

2. Spend more time with the family

3. Worry less and relax more

4. Budget

5. Get a different

If any of these goals sound familiar this is because they are some of the most popular resolutions made each year.

A resolution needs a firm commitment and great determination to achieve, but most people are lucky if their resolution is kept until the end of January. It's no wonder many people find themselves making the exact same goalsthe following year. But you can achieve your resolution by following a few simple steps, and you can do this at any time of the year.

Step 1: Work on one goal at a time. Goals involve change and sometimes it's simpler to give up and go back into your old habits than stick to change. So only do one thing at a time or you may be tempted to give up!

Step 2: Plan. Think about your resolution and write it down! Put it where you will read it everyday. Set a start time. Prepare a strategy. Write a list of actions to help you to reach your goal. Break it down into manageable pieces and tackle it one piece at a time.

Step 3: Prepare for those hurdles that you know will arise. So think about what hurdles will come up and a way to tackle each one. If you slip up, don't let this make you totally give up. See it as one step back among all the steps you have taken forward. And remember to reward yourself for every step forward you do take as this will keep you motivated to continue.

Step 4: Get Support. This is critical. It's much simpler to stay motivated if you feel supported and accountable to someone. You could buddy up with a colleague or relative as long as you are sure they will support you.

So, forget about New Year Resolutions once and for all. You can set goals any day of the year, and what better time than now to start!
