God Gives Peter Popoff A 2nd Chance

Luke 17:3 "Watch yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him." Now, here's something the media should take to heart. They are still stuck on the revelation made by professional skeptics against Popoff in the 1980's. It keeps being brought up again and again. Can you imagine what it would be like if everything you did wrong kept being brought up. In a recent article televangelist Peter Popoff said, "Thank God for giving me a second chance." He remains positive, even if many people in media refuse to give him a fresh start.

Popoff, like any other human being has made mistakes. He has repented and continues to be an evangelist who is successfully preaching the Gospel worldwide over satellite TV, and over two and a half million books, pamphlets and newsletters are published and mailed each year to constituencies all around the world. You can't argue with success. In the secular world, people are judged by how successful they are. Business people who are successful and make a lot of money are admired and constantly given positive press. Why is it that when a televangelist is successful he or she is considered a fraud, chased down and constantly interrogated by the media?

Business people are continuously being found guilty of wrongdoing. Martha Stewart is a great example of that. On June 4, 2003, the government indicted Stewart on nine-counts including charges of securities fraud and obstruction of justice. But you seldom hear anything about that anymore. Why? The media has apparently forgiven Stewart and scores of others. But, they continue to persecute successful TV evangelists like Mr. Popoff.

Neither him nor his outreach organization, Peter Popoff Ministries has ever been found guilty of any moral wrongdoing. He has never been found consorting with prostitutes or any kind sex scandal He's also never been in trouble with the IRS. Apparently, not everyone thinks he's a fraud. The numbers speak for themselves. His ministry, despite the media heat, is extremely successful. Testimonials of good things he's done for his followers continue to appear, despite the negative attention brought on by the media and on the Internet. Reverend Popoff, like other Christians will continue to survive the attacks of secular critics. Through God, anything is possible and the continuing success of Popoff's outreach ministry is living proof of that.
