Going On A Weekend Vacation? Dress Appropriately!

It may seem like a simple task, but many travelers fail to pack the right clothes for their weekend vacation and end up lamenting the fact that they didn't put aside a few minutes to plan their wardrobe more carefully. It goes beyond the obvious of packing heavy coats for a weekend up north in the winter. That much is pretty simple to say the least.

You won't see too many travelers wearing shorts, a t-shirt and thong sandals on a January vacation to Maine, but reading a simple weekend weather forecast for your vacation spot should help you pack appropriately wherever you plan to sightsee, party, or relax. The first step is often taking a few minutes to search online for your destination's local forecast.

If it calls for rain, pack accordingly, especially if you plan on being outside for any portion of your trip. If forecasters are calling for a rainy weekend and you are planning on hiking in the Appalachian Mountains in Maryland or West Virginia, it's a good idea to pack some boots and a poncho that will keep you somewhat dry if you get stranded in the middle of a downpour. On the other hand, if you are headed towards a dry, sunny climate, most people may pack shorts and a t-shirt if they plan on being outdoors.

This is not necessarily a bad plan, but if you choose minimal clothing coverage, be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and a hat to shield the sun's harmful rays. In some cases, a light long sleeve shirt or long pants may help to protect against the sun in extended periods of exposure, although this may prove too uncomfortable in humid climates.

It doesn't take much to ruin an otherwise enjoyable weekend trip. Going to the Carolinas for vacation for what should have been an enjoyable trip may be easily ruined if you failed to realize that a cold front was moving in during your chosen weekend.

It can make for some miserable experiences or may relegate you to your hotel room far more than you anticipated. Check your destination's local forecast for a better idea of the clothing and/or supplies you may need for your weekend trip.

If you plan ahead and bring the right clothing, you won't have to worry too much about your wardrobe while you are on your trip, as the appropriate clothing should be sitting comfortably in your suitcase. Of course, it is impossible to plan for the unexpected all of the time, so bringing versatile clothing and purchasing some necessary items at your destination may prove important as well.
