Golf Holidays In West Scotland

The county of Argyll is less than a 60 minute car journey from Glasgow, the biggest metropolitan area in Scotland and so is a convenient location for all those Glaswegians who want a weekend golfing. The area is also less than an hour from Paisley, the biggest airport so people from around the rest of the country or Britain can {easily|quickly fly in for a western Scotland golfing trip.

West Argyll golf courses
One of the most picturesque towns in the area is Lochgilphead sitting on the banks of the loch of the same name and near to the famous Mull of Kintyre. Here you can find about half a dozen golf clubs within a comfortable drive of Lochgilphead making the town an obvious location to stay for a golfing holiday.

You can find a 9-hole course in Lochgilphead itself the golf tourist a simple beginning to their vacation. For those who are on golf weekends, it is important to be aware that you have to book at the weekend.

Not far away is the world famous Machrihanish Golf Club. The first hole has been voted as the most spectacular opening hole across the world by both participants and course designers. It is rated as one of the Top 100 courses outside the USA.

Many of the clubs on the west coast of Scotland are links courses. These are golf courses constructed over a bed of sand and lie next to the coast. These are especially challenging for players with the variable winds, both angle and rate. A lot of folk regard playing link is the hardest test of the ability of a player.

For the majority of folk having a golfing break in the area, they will want somewhere to stay and every pocket is catered for. For tourists in the area they can travel from one place to another or others can choose to stay in a location like Lochgilphead which is accessible to most of the nearby golf clubs.
