If you fail to abide by certain safety protocols, then you might end up accidentally injuring yourself or others with your gun.

Although an airsoft gun only looks like a real gun and doesn’t shoot like one, that doesn’t mean it isn’t dangerous. A typical airsoft gun will still shoot a bullet at speeds of up to a few hundred feet per second. This is certainly enough to put someone’s eye out if they get hit there.

Another very important safety practice is to never point your gun at another person unless they are wearing protective gear. Of course, you would certainly want to point your gun at someone when you are playing on an field meant for the purpose. But outside of such a scenario, you should never point your gun at another person, even if your gun is not loaded. A few unfortunate incidents have occurred where someone pointed their gun at another person, mistakenly believing the gun to be unloaded, and accidentally injured that other person when the gun went off unintentionally.

Finally, the last safety-related point is that you should always keep your gun in good working condition. Guns that are not properly maintained are prone to breaking down and jamming, and that not only makes them frustrating and difficult to use, but also poses a threat to your safety. This is particularly applicable when it comes to electric airsoft guns, as they are more complex than spring airsoft guns.
