Good News For Manufacturing Recruitment And Agency Workers

There is good news on the recruitment front as over the summer accountancy and manufacturing sectors have seen an increase in recruitment according to figures. The figures are from EEF (The Manufacturer’s Organisation) who have revealed that the number of companies’ recruitment in its sector has almost double over a three month period this summer. The facts come from its Manufacturing Outlook report which has surveyed the industry since 1995. This rise is the biggest since they began this report. The survey also involved questioning employers who said they expected recruitment to continue to rise over the next coming quarter. The hike is mainly being driven by demand for agency and temporary staff which offers employers flexibility if the work demand slows down.

Agency workers now get new rights and a minimum wage increase. The national minimum wage has now gone up from £5.93 to £6.08. Since the first of October 2011 the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 has come into force with staff working to ensure good employment standards and conditions are met. This new regulation gives agency workers the right to be treated no less favourably than the employers’ permanent workers. After a 12 week qualifying period agency workers are entitled to the same basic working conditions and entitlements as if they were hired directly by the company. This means they will be entitled to equal treatment regarding pay, working time duration, breaks, night work and holiday entitlement. This is all good news for recruitment agency employees.

Recruiting for jobs is easier than ever these days. With recruitment agencies cropping up for every employment sector, finding the right person for a job in any industry is far simpler. There is no more posting jobs on local job centre boards or local papers, no more time wasted sifting through the hundreds of applicants trying to narrow it down to the more suited. Recruitment agencies also make it easier for people to find work. All you have to do is join the recruitment agency suited to your profession, upload a cv and then sit and wait. With my experience you don’t have to wait that long. Agency work can also pay better than being hired directly by the company. The only downside is that if the work load decreases temporary and agency workers may be dismissed. But those that pull their weight and are good workers will stay on and may lead to a permanent position.
