Grab A Pen!

These times, like all times, they are a changin'! In this present world where stability is a rarity we all look for that which can give us some emotional support. We need our backbone backed up.
I was contemplating this need when a little ditty of a tune waffled through my head. It was a song from the 50's and it went like this:
"I'm going to sit right down and write myself a letter and make believe it came from you. I'm going to write words oh so sweet. They're going to knock me off my feet. With a lot of kisses on the bottom, I'll be glad I've got 'em.......I'm going to sit right down and write myself a letter and make believe it came from you."
I began thinking of the usefulness of this letter-writing and I began experimenting by writing myself a letter. I found it helpful in the big, broad picture of my life and I found it useful too in talking to myself on little occurrences during a day. I found the process absolutely delightful, healing, uplifting and beneficial in ways I couldn't even imagine.
I have always known that thoughts were "things" and that they carry with them energies and intentions. Therefore, I felt, it would be smart to make use of their powers. I'd put them to good use. I began writing myself a letter at night and then whenever I needed a little boost. Sometimes there is no one else around to do it. So, why wait?
I am passing this onto you, because you never know when such a technique will come in handy.
At times in your life it would be nice to receive a letter from the most supportive being that you can think of. It might be God, your Guardian Angel, your Uncle Joe, Infinite Intelligence, your mother, the Universe, Buddha, Source Energy, Oprah, the Sun, your favorite teacher or - yourself. They are all one in the heart. And the letter you would like to receive is for sure heartfelt.
Sometimes you need to be reminded of how wonderful you are, not the personality naturally, but the real you. You would like someone to point out the efforts you have made in your life, the over-comings you have overcome, the challenges you have faced and the difficulties you have handled.
Sometimes you need to be patted on the back and reminded of all the good things you have done to help others and the part you've played in creating a better world. Sometimes you need to be forgiven for some of the foolish things you have done and you need to know why you should be forgiven. You need to be reminded that life is a school with lessons to be learned with no pre-school classes to prepare you. You need to know that those foolish things were there to help you make better choices in the future. If you had known better, you would have done better.
You need to hear from someone that you are divine in whole and in part, now and forever and nothing changes this truth. You need to know that you should remember this fact always.
You need to be reminded to take good care of yourself - that you count in this world and that the puzzle of life would be incomplete without you.
You need to know that you are irreplaceable in the big scheme of things. No one can take your place and that life is not a competition, no matter how it seems, but rather a co-operation.
You need to be reminded of how important a positive attitude is and that you need to do everything in your power to remain happy.
Then too you need to tell yourself how beautiful you are. No problem about boasting, as you did not do the creating. Point out all your wonderful attributes and talents. Your little cells will appreciate these words. You are kind, loving, generous and worth your weight in gold. Be sure to point this out to you.
You can write a long letter or a short letter when you feel the need for a little emotion uplift. Bad feelings need to be sent away as soon as they show up. Give yourself permission to shoo them away and get back to feeling good instantly.
Heap on the praise, dowse yourself in self-appreciation. Let yourself stew in words of encouragement. Give yourself unlimited permission to feel joyous.
Anyone who would write your letter would do just that.
Whomever you choose to write your letter is deep inside of you and that one would have your highest good in mind.
Writing such a letter may not change what you are going through at the moment, but it will change you're attitude towards it and your ability to endure. What we see and deal with today is the result of our past thinking and past choices. What we deal with tomorrow will be our present thinking and the choices we make today.
Sit down and write yourself a letter at any point when you need that wise voice of temperance, guidance and support.
It's fun! Try it!
