Graduation Party Idea

There are lots ideas on how the theme and organise a graduation party but it is hard to decide on the best graduation party idea. There are lots of ideas on setting up the party. Over the years I have seen excellent brunches set up on the terrace of a beautiful homes, vibrant parties themed on the graduate and brilliant beach parties. As a personal choice I love parties at the beach if the whole package of food, music, decorations and games can be achieved. However I do think that the graduate should have the majority vote on what is happening.

Speaking to our own graduates over the years it is clear they have their own ideas. Our daughter loves to party and she wanted to have a really loud party in a theme that would suit her friends. That was 1980s as they all wanted top dress with big hair, colourful make up and jackets with the sleeves up. They were listening to Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet and loved the music. Lucky that also just about suited her other guests. Our other graduate did not want to be the centre of attention. We thought about their wish not to have too much celebration but did want them to do something. A compromise was looked for, particularly since some rather expensive gifts had been purchased by many people. After some discussion is was agreed that for one night we would have a very social evening at our home. There was to be no theme but anything else would be OK. We realised that the graduates would want to spend a lot of time on Wii and Fussball. On this basis we reckoned the best way to have the party was as a graduation party for everyone to come and be graduates again for one night. We also realised the graduate tribute would need to be good as their presence would be scarce. Lastly we decided we would need to be excellent hosts. The truth was we loved the people who were coming to our home and we would have parties with them at any time. So everyone was a winner.

Hosting the party was fun with each us having clear duties. The graduate had to welcome everyone and thank them for their gifts. He had to help serve the food and also play some of the games. Lastly he had to say goodbye to each guest as they left. In reality once he met everyone he decided he was enjoying the attention and he spent more time talking to his family and friends than I thought he would.

The tributes were everywhere with graduation photos, sports trophies, vacation photos, sports photos, newspaper cuttings, photos with all his friends and family. The memorabilia was all over the place with toys, graduation cap, books, DVDs, Cds, clothing and the gifts. We asked a few close friends to be helpers which they gladly did and we returned the favor. With a good size buffet, lots of balloons, streamers, tinsel, a banner, a few great games and good music the party turned out pretty good. Some guests even asked Chris to play them at Wii.

I hope you use the graduate for your graduation party idea.
