Great Public Speakers

Great public speakers are able to inspire and teach. They can take a message and sprinkle in humor and wise words. Over the years there have been many great orators. These individuals can make you think about your life, those around you and any number of issues that are going on in the world. Many of these individuals use their abilities to help spread the word on social and economic issues that affect everyone.

To be a truly wonderful public speaker, you will need to understand how to bring people to a common understanding. You do not want to be too inflammatory in your speech. The idea is to make everyone understand your point in a civil manner before you inundate them with rhetoric. In a good speech an individual can take an anecdote or story and use it as an example. The story they tell acts as any example to those in their audience.

The other important part of being a good speaker is to understand who your audience is. You need to know the group that you are speaking to and what is important and appropriate for them. You would not deliver the same speech to a church gathering that you would to a group of college students. Catering your message to the audience is a key way of reaching them.

In many instances the best speakers have a passion for a specific issue and that allows them to speak from the heart. A good speaker is able to translate what is in their heart and soul to others and ignite a passion in them. People are able to take away a line, a word, a message from the speech and carry it with them. People walk away from the speech feeling inspired and will remember what they heard and were told. Many speakers admit that if they can inspire a single person in their audience or change one person's day, they feel fulfilled and proud of their work.

The measurement of a good speaker is not whether the crowd remembers your entire message, but if they are inspired enough to do something about what they have heard. Movements are often inspired by a speaker and their ability to move individuals to action. This is the case with most of the great leaders of the past century and will undoubtedly continue to be the case in the years to come.
