Great Tiny Doll Pieces: Planing Counsel

Basics of Dollhouse Wallpaper

Once you have painted the interior of an entire kit you will realize the value of covering the walls with wallpaper. Not only will the walls have a cute and distinct pattern, but the job will be done in a fraction of the time. As far as the where and what kind of wallpaper options are out there you should start with a hobby website or store. Because you are looking to cover a relatively small area, you should look at getting 1 or 2 square feet at a time. You can also print off your own wallpaper. There are websites that will give you free wall paper prints, just start searching for them!If you are in to scrap booking you should have all the materials that you need. As you develop your mad wallpapering skills you will ad contrast, style, connectivitly and a perfect design to your dollhouse kit!

Contrasting your Colors: Making things Pop

The definition of a contrast is two distinct or different items that draw attention to one another. Contrast in interior design makes the eye roll over certain areas of the room and focus on a couple of segments or patterns. Contrasting colors are identified on a simple color wheel: They are the colors that are opposite each other. And remember, one can put too much contrast in a room very easily. A good rule of thumb is if you are going to be using contrast to have one major contrasting item per room.

Size: Very Important in Design

When setting up your dollhouse and buying furniture you will need to remember the three sizing constraints. The first sizing element of miniatures is the scale, the second is the room dimensions, and third is sizing miniatures next to one another. Miniature scaling refers to the fact that dolls and their furniture come in different sizing patterns. Meaning that if you have a half inch dollhouse that you need to purchase half inch dollhouse furniture. The second is room size: or simply not cramming furniture into the room that will not fit. The actual furniture dimensions should be located at the store or website that you bought it at, simply measure and compare. The last point is relative size; this means that within a room you can coordinate the pieces. Smaller pieces will get less attention than other pieces, and the larger pieces should be the ones that you want everyone to look at.

Planning and Preparation with your Miniatures

Plan your dollhouse design, and expect to follow that plan. A plan will help you avoid pitfalls like spending too much or buying the wrong items. The essentials that you will want to have to start are a floor plan and a budget. A floor plan can be as simple as a sketch that was drawn by hand or a print of a room that you would like to copy. There is a plentiful supply of examples of good room designs both online and offline. Take a note book and jot down things that you would like to add, modify, or change with your plan. If you see something in your notes worthy of changing your plan, then go ahead and do it. Once you have a good idea of what you would like you will need to budget accordingly. It does not matter how great a miniature is, if it makes you overspend you probably will regret it when you need that money for other items. If you find a piece of furniture that is over your budget apply your patience and save until you can purchase it.
