Guide To Cleaning Hardwood Floors

There are many different ways and ideas when it come to cleaning hardwood floors. You can do it manually or mechanically, you can use chemical solutions or water or vinegar or you can hire someone else to do your hardfloor cleaning.

Your hardwood floor will either be a laminate or solid wood floor. Laminate floors are man made using either a 3 ply process or a 5 ply process. That doesn't leave much room to refinish your floors if they get damaged. Solid wood floors have the ability to be sanded and another coat can be applied. That is why it's important to use the correct cleaning solution so you don't destroy the finish. There are many options you can use including a cleaning solution from Bissell or a mixture of water and vinegar or cleaning pads used for sweepers. It makes a lot of sense to try different applications to find the one that best fits your needs.

Humidity is one factor that affects wood floors a lot. Depending upon where you live you might have to deal with humidity which will make your floors expand and contract. Even cleaning solutions can effect your wood floors. Basically anything with moisture will effect your floors if you don't get them dried quickly. A top choice of homeowners is a sweeper with cleaning pads. Very little moisure associated with these pads and the ability to clean and leave a shine is greatly increased.

If you live in a dry climate then a steam cleaner shouldn't be a problem. However, after a lot of research we decided to find a steam cleaner that would quickly dry after application. Research, reading reviews and talking to friends will help you figure out what is best for your home.

There are all kinds of machines on the market that will help you keep your hardwood floors clean. You have many choices from Bissell, to Hoover Floor Mate, to Bosch and even Euro-Pro. All of these machines use a steam technology that eliminates harmful chemicals and cleans and disinfects on the spot. What a lot of people notice once they switch to a steam hardfloor cleaner is the shine that comes back after it penetrates and removes some of the chemical residue that is left from a mop or sweeper.

We use both a sweeper and steam cleaner. Both have their plusses and minuses. Replacement pads can get spendy, especially if you clean your floors a lot, but they are effective in cleaning wood floors. As you can see there are all kinds of options available to you. Deciding which option is best for your situation is all about trial and error, reading reviews, talking to people and then giving it a try.
