Hair Loss Tests Before Recommending Possible Hair Replacement

Before deciding on what hair replacement may be best for you, the first thing you must do is to consult a doctor. You may go to a dermatologist or to a Trichologist. A Trichologist is a professional who specializes in all aspects of hair and scalp conditions and their treatments. Whether you’re seeing a dermatologist or a Trichologist, expect to be asked some questions.

Questions like when did your hair loss started, how much hair are you losing, and if you might have inherited the hair loss from either of your parents must be answered so as hair loss problems may be diagnosed. Your scalp will be looked closely into and patterns of hair loss may be checked. One test that may be done is the gentle pulling of hair.

If cause of hair loss is not clear, a blood test or hair and scalp sampling may be done. Samples of your hair and scalp may be examined under a microscope.

Hair replacement is one of the many treatments you may choose in treating your hair loss. Hair replacements may be as simple as wearing of hairpieces like wigs or toupees. Some people choose different ways of styling their hair like dyeing or parting on a different side.

What treatment you choose to take care of your hair loss depends entirely to the cause and your feelings. You may even settle on no treatment at all and just live with thinning of hair or baldness.
