Harley Davidson Riding Destinations In Kentucky
The Eastern Highland region of Kentucky has an abundance of twisting routes to choose from through the Appalachians. Because of the mountains, there are also some routes with gorgeous scenery. There’s only one route in the Highlands that has large sweeping curves, which is 64 miles of State Road 52 from Richmond through Jackson. The longest of the twisting routes is U.S. 421, starting on the south side of Lexington and taking you all the way to the state line on the other side of Harlan. The route goes through Richmond, McKee and Manchester. If you don’t have a lot of time for your ride, but want to end up at the Big Stone Gap and want some excitement along the way, take U.S. Route 119’s twists and turns from Whitesburg to Cumberland. The longest scenic route is 73 miles on State Road 89, beginning at Winchester near Lexington to Lamero in the Daniel Boone National Forest. In Bluegrass Country, you can pick up a great route in Cincinnati’s suburb of Covington and ride for 304 miles on the sweeping curves of two adjoining roads on your Harley Davidson. You will start out on the AA Highway from Covington to Maysville. You can turn off of the AA about halfway through on to U.S. 62, which gives you 250 miles of sweeping curves, taking you through Georgetown, Versailles, Bardstown, Elizabethtown and ends near Beaver Dam. An alternate route is to go all the way on the AA to Maysville and pick up U.S. 68 and travel its 231 miles of sweeping curves through Lexington, Harrodsburg, and ending in Lebanon. One of the best routes full of twists and turns in the Bluegrass region is State Road 22 out of the Louisville suburb of Worthington heading northeast to Willow. One of the best scenic routes in the Bluegrass Country 32 miles of State Road 17 from Wilder just south of Cincinnati south to the junction of U.S. 27. In the southern region of the state, one of the favorite routes with large sweeping curves, is State Road 80, which runs for 107 miles from Bowling Green to Somerset. There are two popular scenic routes in this region. One is 87 miles long on State Road 92 from Monticello through the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and the Kentucky Ridge State Forest. The other is State Road 70 which runs 116 miles from Central City through Mammoth Cave National Park to Greensburg. This is a great route to enjoy riding your Harley Davidson motorcycle. On the western side of the state, State Road 109 will please riders looking for sweeping curves for 60 miles from Sullivan through Hopkinsville. The hands-down favorite scenic route in the western region is the Trace Road that runs through the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. The Trace is 49 miles long on State Road 453. There are only three twisty routes in this region, and all are relatively short, but they’re nice rides. One is 17 miles long on State Road 274 near Kentucky Lake. State Road 1700 is 14 miles long from Patesville to Fordsville. State Road 505 from Rosine to Cromwell gives riders plenty of thrills for 12 miles.
