Havana Club Launches Cuba Holidays Guide For Tourists

"Havana Club's Guide to Havana" is an UK iPhone application launched by Havana Club in order to promote Cuban destinations and attract foreign visitors to visit them in Havana during their Cuba holidays.

This new Cuban tourist iPhone application is available to download for free from the iTumes stores. It flags and highlights hot Havana destinations and locations and guide users on an easy-to-navigate map.

"As the authentic Cuban rum still produced in the capital Havana, we're proud to be able to showcase some of Cuba's must-see locations, particularly to new audiences here in the UK", said Patrick Venning, Head of Marketing, Pernod Ricard UK.

"We hope that our ‘Guide to Havana' gives people the knowledge to really make the most of their trip and experience a taste of Cuba and all the passion and heritage it has to offer", he added.

According to harpers.co.uk, the app's features also include ¨48 hours in Havana¨ aimed at 150 000 UK tourists who visit Cuba each year, but do not necessarily stay in Havana for their entire trip.

Havana Club is a brand of rum, made in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba. It has other grades of rum, all aged during different periods of time: Anejo Blanco (White - 1 year), Anejo 3 Anos (3 years), Anejo Especial (Special - 4 years), Anejo Reserva (Reserve - 5 years) and Anejo 7 Anos (7 years).

Prices range from 3.00 CUC (£ 1.95) to 14.00 CUC (£ 9.14) a bottle in Cuba stores, and more expensive in restaurants, pubs, clubs and bars as well as other retail establishments and it is also sold outside Cuba in conjunction with Pernod Ricard Co.

For Cubans, rum is both a cultural and a regularly consumed product, while for foreign visitors taking Cuba holidays it's a souvenir they take back to friends and family once their trips are completed.

This spirit has become part of the island's heritage, to the extent that visitors who travel to Cuba whether for business or other purposes never leave the country without tasting at least one of the brands.

Particularly in Havana, the main tourist destination in Cuba, regular life is somehow linked to the most famous rum in the island, either for celebrations, birthdays, weddings, inaugurations, or simply toasts for the arrival of a new baby.
