Are you searching for a solid tennis racquet that'll help take your game to the next level? Whatever you're searching for, I can tell you that there are hundreds of promising racquets out there that were built specifically for your style of play. Probably thousands even.
What I've always found is that the brand matters as much as the racquet. Me, for instance - I've always been able to play really well with certain brands like Yonex and Head, but I can't for the life of me do well with a Prince racquet. I've never really comprehend how and why this happens. Whatever the issue may be, I'm going to list a few brands of tennis racquet that may be worth looking into.
Let us start with Prince.. Okay, perhaps I struggle with them a bit, but there's a good reason they're one of the top selling racquet companies in the world. Many people like them. Try out a Prince racquet and you may find that you like them more than I do.
Now let's focus on Head. I'm a big lover of Head tennis racquets, and I've always been a huge fan of the Head Flexpoint 4 line. This is one of the best lines of racquet out there, and a top seller over the last few years, giving just about every tennis player a racquet suited for his or her level. Tennis players all the way up to the professional level use these (i.E. Andy Murray) so I'd definitely have a look at one if I were you.
Other important factors to consider are whether a player wants a traditional racquet length or extra long. While extra long frames are more powerful than traditional frames, they may not be as maneuverable. Players must also decide if their style of play requires a racquet that is head-heavy or head-light. Head-heavy racquets offer more power on ground strokes, but less control at the net, while head-light racquets are easier to maneuver at the net but won't deliver exceptional power at the baseline. A general rule of thumb is that as the frame gets lighter, it typically gets more head heavy. The converse is also true -- racquets with higher static weights tend to be more head light.
