Healing Hemorrhoids-what Really Works

When dealing with the pain and discomfort of hemorrhoids, a variety of alternative approaches have been proven effective. If you've had little success with over-the-counter creams, its time to look at what really works in diminishing the pain, swelling and irritation associated with hemorrhoids.

Many people have had results with two easy-to-find methods. The first one is applying the herb witch hazel. Often sold in the drug stores as a liquid astringent, it can be applied to the hemorrhoidial tissue several times a day. Although it works slowly, in many cases it will shrink the veins back to normal.

Another popular alternative cure for healing hemorrhoids is applying aloe vera. Aloe vera comes in a variety of form and is easy to find as a gel or juice at health food stores. Similar to witch hazel, apply topically on the infected area several times a day. The amino acids and antioxidants in aloe vera help to reduce the hemorrhoid and decrease inflammation.

Unfortunately, for some hemorrhoid sufferers, these alternative solutions may decrease the current hemorrhoid, but do nothing to solve the problem of recurring hemorrhoids.

More effective are herbal remedies for hemorrhoids, which include all natural herbal formulations. Some popular ingredients include:

Mullein-This herb has gained a good reputation for soothing and healing hemorrhoids, due to its soothing properties

Horse Chestnut extract-A popular herb, reduces swelling and is anti-inflammatory

Bilberry-Increases blood circulation which can be helpful with hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoid sufferers should continue to investigate alternatives to traditional over-the-counter creams, especially those that suffer from recurring pain and discomfort. Many effective remedies are all natural and can be easily used without any side effects. Before considering expensive surgery for hemorrhoids, look into other options.
