Healthcare Reform To Cause Boom In Healthcare Careers

The economic recession has finally come to a long awaited end, according to the largest part of economists. Signs that the financial crisis has conceded its worst days are starting to show. Mainly boosted by the healthcare reform, jobs in the healthcare industry above all are expected to explode in the next several months. Business experts are encouraging U.S. workers to consider positions as nurses, lab technicians, radiologists, and anesthesiologists.

“Healthcare will be the place to be for stable careers with great pay,” says Donna Hill, a corporate career counselor for a free online information service. “If you take the time now to become a registered nurse or become certified as a lab tech, you will be in a very good position in only a few months. Healthcare reform is expected to create hundreds of thousands of new positions.”

Happily, a certificate in healthcare can be achieved in only a short amount of time. Online classes make it easy to start and complete certificate programs in a matter of months. Standard time from start to finish of a degree program is about three years. This timeframe ensures that workers can complete certificates or online degrees just in time for the boom in job growth in the healthcare industry.“If employees are looking for the perfect time to switch into a well-paying career, now is it,” says Hill. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, registered nurses make over $26 per hour; vocational nurses make $18 per hour; dental assistants $15 per hour.
In addition, careers throughout the healthcare industry, from hospital administrators to data entry workers, are expected to explode as healthcare expands in both the private and public sectors. “If even one of a number of healthcare reform plans is passed, it will create a whole new branch of the healthcare industry,” says one expert. Any change in the current health care system would require thousands of social service employees, information systems specialists, lab technicians, and administrators, etc. The list of employment opportunities goes on. New job creation estimates run from 500,000 to 1.5 million.

As if it could get any better, healthcare isn't the only business that would likely benefit in job growth. Bills to improve green enterprises like fuel-efficient vehicles and power-generating wind turbines are rolling through Congress. The entire energy industry will likely experience unparalleled growth from these bills. Education is another sector that is likely to see an increase in careers and potentials. Even though other businesses will be affected for the better, nothing comes close to the increase the healthcare business is expecting to see in positions. Even in the midst of the economic recession, while other industries were literally drying up overnight, healthcare created 554,000 new careers in the U.S.

Contrary to the President’s and congressional Democrats’ claims, opponents of healthcare reform point to this projected employment creation as evidence that proposed reform bills will spend more taxpayer money.More careers are merely indicative of larger government and, in turn, higher government spending. We can all be of the same mind that a state-run healthcare plan would bring a massive increase in healthcare jobs.
