Healthy Habits For Kids

Early teaching and early influences in a child's life help set them up for their futures. Many parents choose to read, sing and talk to their children while still in the womb as a way to help stimulate the learning centers in the developing brain.

Learning, however, is something that is hyper-sensitive during the first few years of life, and therefore it is important to begin teaching your children from right out of the womb what you want and expect from them. The most important way to do this is to emulate the behaviors that you want them to do. While babies are still quiet and unable to talk, they spend all their time watching and listening and learning.

Now sure your child doesnt yet have teeth, but realize that by watching you brush your teeth everyday, they will want to follow suit and they are learning more about that every time they see you do it. The mistake many people make is to try and teach their children things, like tooth brushing, hand washing, and so forth after they are a little bit older. But both good hygiene and good healthy eating habits are established early on, so it is extremely important to instill these behaviors early on. You must model the behaviors for children, even before you realize that they are acknowledging what you are doing. They are very aware, much more aware than you realize.

Now, many people dont realize the importance of good hygiene, however it is just about imperative in todays society. With children heading off the school at the age of 4, where germs are at their worst, things like proper hand washing and sneezing etiquette for example, can actually keep them healthier and reduce the spread of germs.

The health and well being is and should be the focus of most parents. To keep your child healthy, good manners and good hygiene habits are a must. The best way to protect your child from illness is to keep them clean and germ free, and what better way than to teach them early on and expect it from them. Always remember they will emulate your actions and behaviors, so do not demonstrate anything you do not want to see from them.
