Remember that all of us are just “regular” people and very often every one of us would succumb to cravings for certain types of food be it pizzas, or even just a sundae ice cream that could possibly add inches to our waistline if consume in an unhealthy manner. However, although it is sometimes difficult to eat the perfect diet everyday, but there some known ways that could help us to at least control our cravings to a healthy level. br>
First, we need to understand why do we have cravings. Is it because of stress, or are you bored or lonely at times that leads you to food just to ease yourself a little? Identify these triggers of your cravings, and try to deal with it healthily.
Another way to stop craving is to substitute it with a healthier snack. For example, if you’re craving for sweet stuff, try munching on an apple instead of eating a whole piece of cake yourself.
People often has cravings even if it is just an hour after their meal. If that’s the case, get yourself busy and occupy yourself with some activities, be it reading a book or gardening as a way to divert your mind to other things.
Keep yourself hydrated at all times. Drink plenty of water daily (at least 1oz. of water for every 2 lbs of body weight). This allows you stop yourself from the temptations of consuming sodas which consists of high level of calories.
Do not skip any meals. Instead of stuffing yourself three large meals a day, eat regular small meals throughout the day to avoid the temptation to snack on bad foods.
Get rid of fatty food stored in the refrigerator and start shopping more wisely. Stock up with healthy food like fruits, vegetables and healthy snacks. When there is nothing available to munch on, the craving stops. But most importantly, set a realistic goal and adopt a positive attitude of treating your body with respect to stop cravings and lead a healthier life.
